0:00  A: competed in 2010 games at aged 16 and you know the men are pushing
the boundaries when it comes to the quads, she wants the lead the way
     for the women.

0:11  M: Generation is always moving forward. I wanna be part of that moving generation.
0:17  M: So, ever since I… I have been a younger girl like um…
I just always like want to keep pushing past boundaries.
0:25  M: And like I wanna be the person who breaks on that wall.
0:28  M: And so like now people around the world, they’re like “girls are doing like quads? No!”
and so I'm like “oh my God” like I had thought, we can quads to keep open
0:36  M: Like I wanna be a force in the skating world then I wanna win, and so that’s how
I push myself to these past these boundaries.

0:45  A: Well, she’s been around for quite some time as I mentioned only 16 years of age
     at the Vancouver 2010 games.
0:51  A: Ashley Wagner that was chosen over her at the 2014 games.
0:55  A: She is the 2008 US National Champion.
0:59  A: Will she get back to the Olympics in 2018?

1:08  K: Testing my memory but I believe she was one spot off the podium at those games as well.
1:14  A: Yes. She finished 4th.
1:17  K: Here is the triple axel attempt.
1:19  K: Part of that breaking boundaries she was speaking about.
1:23  K: Beautiful height. Not a bad attempt at all.
1:32  K: Coming down little under rotated, had an two-feet but a beautiful extension up into the air.
1:36  K: Gorgeous jump.
1:37  C: She’s gonna get this sooner or later. It’s gonna be dead clean.

2:42  C: Mirai’s program choreographed by Canadian Jeff Buttle and she credits him
with teaching how to take moments to breath and re-focus and re-energize
     going back into the program.
2:56  C: I think Jeff was pretty much an expert of that.
3:01  K: It's pretty much amazing at everything.
3:02  C: Yes.
3:09  K: Well, she didn’t catch the flow on the landing of that double axel, you know,
the way that she usually does but…
3:16  K: Once again I’ll say what a gorgeous jump!
3:19  K: She extends up, through and across the ice, taking your time to start the rotation

4:31  K: Jeff and Mirai have laid out the beautiful program.
4:33  K: It’s spoke about putting all your jumps together and having the two-spin finish
     that I feel these unbalanced.
4:42  K: Not this one, Mirai is going the… planned triple loop, deep in the program, very late…
4:54  K: She is good! Nailed it!
4:57  K: Nice with the finish.

5:11  A: That is Mirai Nagasu of the United States.
5:15  A: She’s already competed at another grand prix assignment this season.
5:18  A: It was right out of the gate of grand prix of Russia where she finished 9th.
5:24  A: She does own 4 grand prix medals but last time she stood on the podium was
     back in 2013.
5:31  A: And welcome back to our figure skating coverage here. It is the grand prix of Japan
just finished to watch the American skater Mirai Nagasu.

5:39  K: Nice jump! And I’m looking forward to the moment when she hit it. It’s gonna be beautiful
5:44  C: Yes, I’ve seen her do video of it. Clean in practice and it… it’s there,
she just has to hit that right more with confidence, isn’t it?
5:51  K: Confidence and… and she can’t…, you know, maybe wasn’t quite tight enough,
I’m not sure, she just came down a little short on the rotation today
5:59  K: A beautiful posture. She had couple of moments for she was struggling on the landings
6:03  K: But we talked about the distribution of the elements within the program,
and music choice, that was a really great program.
6:10  K: I’m sure she looked like she was enjoying herself.
6:11  C: Yes. I like the fact that she didn’t finish with two spins in a row, too.
6:15  C: Because, I mean, we all know this stopping and starting is the hardest thing to do
     when you…
6:18  K: Yeah. It’s true…
6:19  C: When you do two spins…
6:21  C: Cleans it up for you
6:22  A: We have to imagine she is on a mission as mentioned only 16 at 2010
     and she finished 4th.

6:26  A: But then didn’t get name to the 2014 Olympics. It was Ashley Wagner instead of her.
6:32  A: So, she wants to prove she’s still here to stay and so far good mark for her...
she needs 125.79 to take the lead.

6:39  A: And she gets 129.29.
6:43  A: So, score that she's definitely happy with to give her a total 194.46
and to be the current leader here in Japan
6:51  K: Keep going for those boundaries!
