0:00  K: Cool guy
0:01  A: yeah! I mean whatever you're doing Charlie Chaplin, you have so much fun
0:08  A: Here comes our next skater from Russia… there Sergei Voronov, 30 years of age
0:14  A: This is his 19th Grand Prix event. He's never won though he does have six medals
came also close, three of them silver, but still looking for that elusive gold.
0:29  A: And he was back-to-back national champion in 2008 in 2009.
And he wants to make sure he's not forgotten here, as Russia has
two spots for the men of the 2018 Olympics.
0:41  C: You know what they say, Andy?, “Quitters never win and Winners never quit”.
And he is living proof of that saying
0:56  K: Thirty years young, quad toe triple toe coming up
1:06  K: When the camera has to tilt up that far, you know, it was a good jump
1:12  K: Beautiful timing as he takes this speed
1:15  K: Forward into there, reach back, propels himself up, just perfect
1:48  K: Smallest of deductions there, lose point, at least maybe more on the landing.
That wasn't clean, two foot landing
2:06  K: This is a program that starts off designed truly just to get in three great jumping passes.
2:12  K: You can see the reward up in the top left
2:15  K: The current skater marked with the C that's the running tally of his technical score
2:39  K: We saw Meighan…
2:43  K: Sorry, Keegan Messing just finished, we saw how much energy he put into
     his choreography.
2:49  K: This design of this program here is really geared towards excelling,
technically saving all his energy for things like that.
2:59  K: Beautiful triple axel-double toe-double loop.
3:03  K: Not wasting any other energy within the music or the footwork
3:14  C: And you would really expect that to be seen reflected in the component marks
very skated light, for example Adam Rippon and Keegan Messing should really
score very high in the skating skills, transitions, composition, interpretation.
3:27  C: And then this skate maybe not as much
3:31  C: And that's how the system should work if it's used correctly

5:17  A: Thirty-year-old, Sergei Voronov of Russia
5:22  A: Great internal competition even within the Russian men to earn those two spots.
5:28  A: Only two spots at the Olympics for them
5:30  A: We've already seen Mikhail Kolyada competes, Alex Samarin is on the rise,
     let's not forget Maxim Kovtun.
5:38  A: Right now he's a spare Voronov is, but he wants to be one of the chosen ones
5:42  K: I know where he learned that bow… Evgeni Plushenko.
5:45  C: Yes! I was just thinking the same thing. Haha…
5:48  K: Maybe the haircut, too
5:49  K: Hey, you know, what he's… he put on a clinic.
5:52  K: Look at that… that… that is an athlete at his best at the age of 30
5:58  K: Beautiful Heights… and good control in almost every single landing,
steps up in the air, really looking comfortable in his flight pattern
6:10  K: But, you know, he didn't quite have the framework
around this amazing display of physicality that one hopes for
6:19  K: And… that… it was a very well-designed program and it probably is the program
he needs to get the job done.
6:25  C: Yeah! What's perfectly for him to do what he needs to do.
6:27  K: It’s perfectly for him
6:29  C: And again, he's working the system the way he wants it to be
6:32  K: But it's true. I mean it's, you know, it's hard to be in a judge sport because
     everybody has different opinion.
6:38  C: Yes.
6:39  K: But I don't see how you can compare the difficulty in between the jumps
6:43  A: He's looking to get the...
6:43  K: in that programs from others, all right?
6:45  A: He is looking to get the job done here, one seventy one point nine four
to take the lead Adam Rippon and he will get it.
6:51  A: one eighty one point zero six.
6:55  A: That will give him a strong total score to take the overall lead,
two seventy one point one two
7:02  K: Well when you put together good jump after good jump with the clean spin
     and…and speed
7:08  K: The overall program does look better but
7:11  K: I want a little more fun
7:13  A: But as I said 19th Grand Prix event and he's never won gold.
Right now he's sitting in that position
